From the Ford newsticker 7th. February
Mustang 2005 won its first race at Daytona
With less than one day’s experience behind the wheel of his new Ford Racing Mustang GT race car, car owner and driver Tom Nastasi, with co-driver Ian James, claimed victory in the opening race of the 2005 Grand-Am Cup season at Daytona International Speedway. The win marks the first race and first win for Ford Racing’s Mustang GT race car built off the new 2005 Mustang GT that is currently available in Ford dealerships.

Ford Racing’s development team, a two-car effort run by Multimatic Motorsports, finished in 2nd and 9th place. Two other Ford Racing Mustang GT race cars were campaigned, with 11th place captured by the # 37 JBS Motorsports car with drivers Jim and Bret Seafuse, and 22nd place by the #10 Champion Motorsports car with drivers Brad Lehmann and BJ Zacharias.

The ‘R50’, the race version of the Cammer V-8, as found in the Mustang GT racer, is an evolution of the all-aluminum Cammer ‘T50’ crate engine, which is currently available from Ford Racing Performance Parts. The ‘R50’ racing version features many enhancements for road racing highlighted by new cylinder heads, from the Ford GT supercar program, and a unique intake manifold.

The CRASH that changed the History of Trans Am

Seems Ford got a better idea from this site and Vyto P. design studies back then (see further down this page.

  • Mustang commands nine percent of the total market of vehicles that get modified – more than any other single vehicle nameplate.
  • Ford Racing Performance Parts plans to offer everything from a 2005 Mustang "Body-in-White" to a race-prepared competition version.
  • Ford Racing's 5.0-liter Cammer V8 crate engine will be the centerpiece of a racing program.

Staged and ready to race, but what now?
The software development team of racingnationline.com or SIM Central has put the brakes for a while on the Classic Trans Am modification for the F1 Challenge PC game.
Maybe they need some cheering or motivation from us T/A enthusiasts to return to this project. We were informed that most of the team are now working on another project, as this modification might take a bit more time than they expected, so they turned on another modification to get at least something finally out. Let not forget them about "our" project. At least they have set up a special website. Pop up there and let them know how you feel in good taste and manner in the forum post "How is it coming". Look also at the nice screenshots and the wallpaper section.

  Interview with Mike Sedlak
Mike is one of the few that has been there at the races in the glory days and still is today active in racing T/A-iron. Read about his history, his view on todays vintage racing and about the technical details of his well-known blue T/A period correct Boss 302.

Trans Am Reloaded
Trans Am races were the upper notch of the TOTAL Performance racing programm of Ford back then. With the new 2005 Mustang being in the final stages there is ample room for new Performance or Design packages plus maybe even a T/A race series.
Let's at least consider this and I'm pretty sure there is a niche market for such a kit with 20" Minilite Wheels, a few effective engine mods and a sticker kit.

  Smallest T/A race at Goodwood

With Scalextric latest releases of the #15 Boss 302 Mustang (C2401) and #16 (C2402),

Think ahead and make it a real father/son project this time. At the Goodwood Revival meeting Scalextric presented these cars on the original rebuild of the Goodwood racing circuit, introducing as a special feature a new Le Mans 66 kit with 3 original coloured GT 40. Those cars were displayed as well outside of the big tent.

112073, the number #2 original Shelby car made its first appearance at Willow Springs Raceway on Sunday 10th of May. "It was the first time out for the car so the team were just shaking it down. It did look absolutely beautiful." Our spy G. A. reports.

"The guy with his back to the camera leaning in the engine bay used to work at Shelby in 1969 and this was the car he worked on." Some problems with the oil pressure appeared, so the tests had to be stopped. Many old and original parts were located for the restoration of this car.

New 1:18 scale model T/A-Mustangs (#15, #16 and #2)available from June 2003 at www.supercars1.com. Jim Thoren sells them for 69,95$ a piece or 199,95$ the set. You'll be the judge.

Competition orange will be available on the 2004 Mustang model! Plus Screaming Yellow, but who cares.... Sticker companies certainly know what to do now, right?

The ultimate dry-racing test for the winter time

The Parnelli car being developped by Fiery using Zanoza Modeler Software V.107

A Race SIM Central group is currently developping a new 1970 T/A season addition based on its famous F1 2002 PC game. The developping team obviously has enough engagement to do it right, so details of stickers and such have been researched on the web and advice is accepted as to the exact details.
Make sure you have this game on your (or your sons) wishlist for your next birthday or latest X-mas. It will probably take another 2-4 months until it is on the market, but this note is just a teaser.

Mystery Race Boss

...Brad L. owns this nice Boss racer, but he would like to know more about its history. The modifications done to this car very much resemble those that were done in Warren Tope BOSS.
The original Ford files don't indicate anything, but this BOSS was one number after one that went to Kar Kraft for the Sedan racing. This one however went to Minneapolis. Painted yellow at that time, it might have been an eyecatcher on the race tracks in the early 7Oies in that area. If anyone remember this car, pls. contact us. The 69 door number is not an original door number, just indicating the model year.

A reprint or revision available in 200X?

Your interest might get it done
California Mustang and Donald Farr are planning a reprint or a revision
So get in touch with California Mustang to express your interest in your personal issue. The minimum print run would be probably 10.000 as they say. Just let them know you are interested in a reprint. Follow this thread for more information.

Update: Probably out in 2008 latest. See interview on this site from 2007

Schoolbus Yellow should ring a bell for any T/A enthusiast. Painting a muscular Mustang in this colour is the only way to get ample room in front of you on the Highways and even in downtown or on the Woodward Avenue.

2003 T/A Mustang Limited series
Being not a typical father/son project it still is - a dream thought over and quickly acting for being the first one out with another special SN197 limited series - America borne.
Proper door numbers of #15 or #16 as to your liking will be probably added later including original stickers, but this is just guessing, first the project has to be finished to create respect by itself. A rear spoiler similar to the 69-70 Boss 302, an aluminiuam front spoiler with brake ducts, big brakes, suspension lowering kit, vintage style Hurst shifter and knob, custom made side exiting side exhaust system, functional rear brake cooling as well as 17"x9" Minilite wheels are just engineered and made ready for a limited production of a 100 of this beast. Maybe some more will slip over the parts counter to make this project an affordable dream for everyone.
You may follow the project on this website or at efthree.com
