Kyuhyuk Kwon
from Korea is a member of the Motor Press Guild and responsible for these interesting mix of artwork and computer drawing.
He creates a calendar each year with thiese masterpieces. The 2008 calendar is already being printed, but he's going to include one or both in the 2009 version.

His other artwork can be seen on his blog. The characters might be difficult to read, but the pictures are easy to find.

Some might find the Mustang needs a bit flexing its muscles sideways, so I did a small photoshop for how we see it typically in our maniacs brain - low and wide.
Never mind, Kyu, your artwork is topnotch..

Videos from the Past
Charger RT 440 owner Scott Ullrich send us these nice two short video clip links of the Chase recreation from the last Bullitt Nats in SFO.

Another vision of the Bullitt Future
You are encouraged to send in your proposals for the next generation Bullitt
Here is one based on the new world car. With the european Verve concept being explored in the US, there is little doubt anymore that the new Mustang Bullitt might become a derivative of the Iosis concept that might also end up in the new Capri for Europe. One sportscar base for the world.

What else had a meaning for McQueen fans aside from the BULLITT?
LE MANS is certainly the next best thing to that to us.

To commemorate the 1968 Gulf Oil success and in memory of McQueen starring in LE MANS, Aston Martin will appear with two Aston Martin Racing cars at this years LE MANS. #007 and #009 will certainly be a blast in their livery as shown.

BTW - Steves 911 used in the first few minutes in LE MANS is featured in  this month OCTANE UK magazine. Aside from this one Steve had one on his own back at his home. Both are in the US.

Rafael Gomez did it.
The Fashion Thing
Although he does not like rain on his car, being part of the action won over his principles. So he went to the suggested location for a fashion series published meanwhile in EUROMAN, a danish lifestyle magazine.
Coolness was the desired factor and original Bullitt locations choosen for the right atmosphere.
Let's hope more than one shot will be featured in the 10 pages fashion article coming on.

What else do you need, if not the original locations, a tune of Lalo's BULLITT theme from the audio system and the exhaust note of a burbling V8?

Just a gas pedal to play with and torque at the rearwheels.

Rafael Gomez has it all. Living in the San Francisco bay, he can choose any nice day and catch the spirit again.

We will soon also feature his car in the replica section.

Thanks to Rafael for making an exemption from his principle for these shots.

Thanks to Greg for quick interfacing and Anthony for his instant support and offer. Actually we never featured Anthonys Mustang. We will do so asap.

We stay in touch  with our Enthusiasts
Years ago we registered this one and Takafumi continiously detailed the car to perfection.

Takafumi from Tokyo/Japan sent us these days his latest photos of his BULLITT replica. He did some finishing touches on the details of the movie car and it looks very outstanding.
Whoever is familiar with the japanese classic car market (I have been 3 times in Japan and browsed all available very excellent glossy car magazines) knows that there is a peak level of quality cars around.

Takafumis BULLITT Mustang is certainly one of them.

We will update his page in our replica collection soon.

BULLITT and  Back to the Future
honoured.

"Because of the cultural significance of these films, they've been named to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for preservation in perpetuity."

Over the years we have been in touch with many Black Charger owners seeking for information on the counterpart of the BULLITT Mustang.

Now it's time to fulfill our promise to give them some more room on this site, as there is still only little available on the web for them. Of course our friends Scott Ullrich Charger replica from San Francisco will be the first one we feature, but in researching my last decades files, I found more than a half dozen that are valid to show them off here, some even having appeared in movies or in press. Worth enough to share info on these too.
This place won't become a Charger site, but I am going to make it a separate section here. Stay tuned.

Update on the Pentagon Memo:
Smashcam Productions is looking for help in renting a 68 Bullitt Mustang (low-no Budget Film).  Needs to have a role-cage and run. Should look as if the car was used in circle Track.

Filming starts on Jan 25 - Feb 8th 2008.
This is a LA California Shoot.

For more information about the film. Check them out on IMDb or www.smashcam.com

Any help would be great.

David McDivitt

With 40 Bullitt Replicas registered aside from David Kunz' car, we aren't that bad, are we?

I finally added Chris P. and Kari Mörös outstanding replicas to our portfolio of Bullitt replicas worldwide.
There has been quite often the question, which is the best one.
Well we are not interested in judging that, to each his own personal BULLITT replica. Some pay more attention to details of the original movie car, others less and add a few performance details.

None is close to the original, because none has the original dents and the camera bracket holders underneath the car. None of them has the original VIN plate, so any fighting over the accuracy of any Bullitt replica would end up in, yeah, but....

There are some out meanwhile that have put more time than Dave into his car and more detailing. They are free to do it, as is David free to work on his car, whenever he has time and money to do so. But rest assured nobody will ever be done with it.

David Kunz and Mike Farrell Replica were there at the Bud Ekins Memorial

Our friends at Motortrend.com
send us this nice pic from David Kunz replica in their latest issue 2008

A few facts
about the 15th anniversary

David bought his car in 1992 just when I bought my blue 68 Fastback.
Davids friend Anthony joined the gang and the project was "on", although it took some time to set up the site..

BULLITT Transformation of Davids car started soon later and history tells us that this site had a big influence in certain manufacturers product development, creating replicas, exchange of information, supporting events around the world, paintings, scale models, diaromas, artwork or just maintaining the BULLITT spirit and entertaining enthusiasts for more than a decade.

Exclusive interviews with actors, movie guys, digging for memorabilia and more adds to the content.

Occasionally we get forgotten in the mainstream, but that just challenges us to perform better. The secret source of true BULLITT Enthusiasts around the world.

 BULLITT REMAKE
movie is postponed again

Several scripts had already been rejected by WB

It has not even been decided which car will be featured in the movie remake

Since the strike is over (Feb.2008), we hope to have some more news soon.

Early Bird Ponysite is back
- we dare to suggest the oncoming generation and inspire the team again

"Your site is very exciting. I have sent a link to all guys of the BULLITT team to catch the spirit"

Quote: higher Ford rank years ago
Yes, those were the good times

When Freeman Thomas of Ford Advanced Styling and John Clinard (Ford Public Affairs) put their heads together with muscle car owners
at the
weekly Cars and Coffee show near their office on the westcoast, they are seriously interested in the car guys expectations for the future,
while sensing the california car culture mystery.
Could be they have a BULLITT PP car on hand this or the following Saturday to enjoy. Irvine/CA.

We talked in the Ponysite news section already in July 2007 after an interview with Martin Smith (Ford Europe Design Chief) about the oncoming mix of the New Edge and Bold Moves design style that will eventually led to new world cars.
This topic has become more audience on the website since J.Mays has confirmed it in the past days.
We also speculated already earlier about the blend of the GT and Mustang and the GR1 further development as the GT successor.
So we weren't that far off the way Ford thinks in terms of advanced design.

But our mystery visions are nothing without... What will the next BULLITT look like?

We will come up with more artwork for inspiraton or discussion soon.

The LA Police Academy hosts annually a car show called COPS FOR TOTS.
Dave Kunz and his friend Mike Farrell went with their BULLITT replicas there today (Sunday,28th. Nov. 2007) to show off their "Guns".

BTW - if you happen to have read Mustang Monthly latest issue about the leather-wrapped steering wheel, both cars feature it and no it was not locally leather wrapped, but done in Switzerland as well.
The B-Wheel goes for about 3000 Dollar from Branda. A truly original and genuine piece.
See this BULLITT PAGE previous News pages for pics of it, when they were done last year as the prototypes.

Update: Unfortunately Mike was unable to make it with his Bullitt, but Dave was there with his car on display.

November 07 saw more than 100.000 hits on the news site due to the launch of the 2008 Bullitt on 6th. of November.
Thank you, Ford.:)

Occasionally we have as well some sad unexpected News

Check out the LA Times from 12th. Oct. 2007

We would like to have your catchphrases and slogans for THE UNEXPECTED BULLITT ads.

K.L. went out again in his cool ride to recall and set-up original scenes from the most famous car chase movie.

Send us your smart ideas for the new BULLITT Ad campaign and we feature them here.
You are the most valuable enthusiast brainpool, so come on.
Ford could buy one of these for just one of the first BULLITTs and save a lot of agency money.

We have already mind-mapped around this topic and will list soon a dozen of proposals. But we are curious to see yours.

Coming soon - 1st of October 07 at the Bookshops
"He made movies best remembered for their wild car chases, mad motorcycle dashes, and hair-raising races, but no one forgets the man at the wheel--Steve McQueen, the King of Cool. No other Hollywood star has been so closely linked with cars and bikes. It is this connection that McQueens Machines explores, giving readers a close-up look at the cars and motorcycles McQueen drove in movies, those he owned, and others he raced.

From the 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback he drove in Bullitt (in the greatest car chase of all time) to his Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in The Thomas Crown Affair, from the Triumph motorcycle of The Great Escape to the Gulf-Porsche 917K he actually raced in Le Mans, the cars and bikes that McQueen made famous in films make another appearance here. The book also features the cars, motorcycles, and even airplanes that McQueen owned over the years, including two motorcycles that fetched record prices at a recent auction: a 1937 Crocker "Hemi-head" V-Twin and a 1920 Indian Powerplus Daytona. Among notable cars profiled in the book are a 1959 Porsche Speedster bought new by McQueen, a 1957 Jaguar XKSS, a 1963 Ferrari 250 Lusso, a 1953 Siata 208S, a 1965 Ferrari 275 NART Spyder, and a 1969 "Le Mans" Porsche 911S.

With a foreword by Steves son, Chad McQueen, and a wealth of details about the stars amateur racing career, his movie stunt work, and his car and motorcycle collecting, McQueens Machines draws a fascinating picture of one outsized mans driving passion."

Filmstars and cars
Automotive Art has become more interesting for collectors since some cars are not available on the market. One of them is the BULLITT original car.

But Artwork might fill the gap for a while for some.
Chris Osborne from New Milford/Connecticut certainly did not want to address this special group with her artwork, but she has a huge portfolio of Filmstars and cars artwork in her online gallery.
She owns several antique automobiles herself, both trucks and cars. So welcome here amidst Bullitt enthusiasts.

Click for more samples of her artwork here

The BULLITT REMAKE
is finally "ON"

-
but postponed for an uncertain time

We've got a few words and whispers that the Studios have given the project a "Go" now and are investigating the route for the script.

Update: Feb 2008 - Strike is over, so the Bullitt script writers will be invited again

The Engine
that  still might power a BULLITT 2008,5
Back in 1967 there was a clever dealer that made his voice heard about the missing power, when the snow melted of the roads and his customers turned back moaning about the missing power of their 390 S-codes. His name was Bob Tasca.
Today Bob is still around and might repeat the history in pushing Ford for a new "headliner"

The Mustang world is ready to buy another Tasca special or  McQueen Edition of the new BULLITT and it certainly will be a good forerunner of the "average BULLITT".
Dealers will be happy, if the launch isn't accompanied by moaning anymore.

MRT, Roush or XXXXX special Performance Vehicle Manufacturer might catch otherwise on the opportunity.

I might be a bit far off with this one, but anyway, I'd like to see this nice engine fitted into the new BULLITT 2008,5 like this.

This is the good 'ol 388/394 HP FPV 5,4 Triton quad-cam 32-valve modular engine that Ford could take out of the shelve from the Boss 290 sold Down Under.

With a little body and engine mounts massage or using the knowledge that went into this engine, 390HP should not be a problem for skilled engineers in a Mustang.

The  engine has already been improved down under to meet EURO III standards and offers meanwhile 394HP. Together with a ZF6 trans it is certainly not a cheap combo and not easy to fit, but worth a second thought as a "headliner".

A little fee to the McQueen Trust and Chad as a promoter and #001 owner, the rest of trouble is peanuts. If Super Snakes find customers, a McQueen Edition will find its enthusiasts as well.

For more info on FPVs activities, visit www.fpv.com.au

And then again - with the new BOSS 320 Aussie engine, I am not too far off the real world

Cinematic webpages
and femalefirst.co.uk of course report again about Brad Pitt starring in the new BULLITT Remake 2008. Seems Petersen as director  is out now, but the producers gave it a go.
Since 2008 marks the 40th Anniversary for the most famous Car chase movie, there is pretty much reason, why WB and Ford agreed on a late launch of the Bullitt Mustang 2008.5. Taken into account that there is a bit of knowledge behind all those new reports, the movie will certainly have something for everybody, if they do it right and let rather Angelina do the stunt driving..
.

Carguys could make new contacts in the movie theatres during the non-chase scenes, ladies have a choice of many a Brad-clone at the After-movie party, but let them do their burnout first at the entrance - just for the fun of it. Picture the corral of about 2 or more dozens of Bullitts outside waiting to pick up their favourites and one daring Charger in front of them.
 You'll simply gonna love it.

Update 25th. July:: Brad's agency denied the (now) rumour.

Jeremy Clarkson on the best CAR CHASE MOVIE EVER - GQ July 2007
While Jeremy is certainly not every Ford Enthusiasts "darling" anymore since his piece on the Ford GT, he took the freedom to talk about our famous BULLITT Chase movie.
You don't really need to rush out to get this issue, still it's a nice reading while you are waiting at the airport or at the trainstation and don't know what to browse. Like all of the eyecatchers on the cover, the content does not hold, what it promises.
Fortunately - at least for the printed version - no Bullitt replica owner lent Jeremy his car to test drive somewhere, although he could have easily rent one in the UK, since there is one available for such adventures. However he refers to his rides in Mike Rhoades 418 stroker Bullitt replica and a ride in a Charger (can be seen on a Jeremy Clark DVD available at good sorted Automobilia stores)

Let's hope he will not repeat a chase for a new feature story on TV like the one with the tank and the Freelander.

Seeing him dressed up like Steve McQueen in GQ is at leat one of his typical jokes and the only picture of interest. All the others are more or less miniatures of the Movie DVD with all the well-known b/w shots.
An Bud Ekins interview is added, the whole story makes up about 4 pages. Judge yourself.
