The Detectives Bullitt
I have owned this J-code, 4speed, Highland Green 1968 Fastback Deluxe for 30 years.  Built at the San Jose plant on June 18, 1968, I purchased the car for $1,500 from the original owner in the Summer of 1977, the year I graduated high school.  Back then, the car had 93,000+ miles on the odometer.  It now has over 234,000 miles!

More in the BULLITT replica section

Mike Farrell, a retired LAPD detective - is a close friend of Dave Kunz and they meet each other on a regular base to exchange detailed information on the BULLITT Mustang.

LIZZIE and JOHNNY
made it into Festival de Cannes 2007!
We've followed Stephen Huthnance project for several years and finally his effort was honoured with an entry at the Festival de Cannes 2007.
"We edited it down to a 30min action short for the short film corner.
The car chase is full on.
Thanks for your support over the years." Stephen Huthnance

Update July 2007: Stephen reports of a big success in Cannes and he got in touch with a number of big names, that were very interested in his movie. So let's press thumbs for him.

TRIBUTE MOVIE

This first one of the black leather steering wheels has arrived at David Kunz doorstep  some weeks ago and had been installed already. Dave took it out for a spin ... and it worked.
He  ...was in touch with Steve!
Expect some MM coverage about the installation in the near future in mid 2007.  Jim Smart came over to take pics. David is selling his former Monza GT wheel, so he got used to the new grip already.

Close your eyes and put your hands with mental imagination on this. How does it feel? Which pictures appear in your mind?
San Francisco. It's 1968. You're behind a Charger and it's turning suddenly left in front of you. Get a firmer grip and feel the tension of your knuckles....

What is this sentiment worth? Going back in history? We think it's worth more than this new item will actually cost.
Recreated with the same dedication like Tony Nancy spend on the steering wheel for his friend Steve this handstitched and swiss precision made high-quality black leather wrapped steering wheel will be available for a limited number of  Enthusiasts.
It will last a few monthes more until you can order one, because they are really hand made and "fed" with inspiration of a legend - piece by piece like good 'ol Kentucky whiskey.
The first prototype has touched down in a carton box at my doorstep after X-mas 2006. Quality is  excellent and it's made according to highest standards by professionals with the "handmade" finishing touches like the original.

Thanks to Dave Kunz for sending the pre-issue to me. Matt Stone and Evan Klein can be proud of this feature article.

Motor Trend Classic Sept. 2006 issue
Don't miss. Great pics and story.

Unfortunately Scott Ullrichs Charger was dropped, but this site shows it somewhere down here in the MT Photoshooting section.

We assume and hope that his car gets another feature story soon in 2007.

When we heard that Angelina Jolie
is pictured with 4 cars,
a bike and an airplane in the desert of California and a BULLITT is amongst them, what do we start to think? A new car movie, a BULLITT remake?
There would certainly be not much dispute about the  female part amongst Mustangers, so let's conclude on her already as the next BULLITT remake actress.
The rest about Angelinas muscle car relation and the real story of  this photoshooting topic you can read.. and much better see with excellent pics from Annie Leibovitz ...in an oncoming VOGUE issue probably in December 2006 or January 2007 latest.

The photoshooting was done on an airfield in the Death Vallye and in some sanddunes. At the airfield a number of bikes, an airplane and 4 muscle cars were present. It might still be this was just a "body photoshooting" as the Pitt/Jolie spotters say on the web. Anyway why not have a look en Vogue.

Update: the Vogue did have the mentioned pics, but not any with the MUSTANG. Sorry, guys, it was a 1:6 chance.

It's true the BULLITT 2008 was a no show at the SEMA and we are sorry for the misleading previous information, but  we had and have word of the finished concept car ("BULLITT Enthusiasts will like it") which was our eye witness info) plus more from our sources at the backdoors..

Still you can see the 68 replica and a 01 at the SEMA 2006 plus more shots here

Mike Rhoades 68 replica displayed at the SEMA
"We just wanted them to be here" say Ford reps acc. to Mikes report on www.imboc.com

Nothing beats the  mystery of a hidden Bullitt. With true McQueen attitude Ford keeps it in its secret barn as long as possible

Picture thanks to Rich Truesdell (Photojournalist for Mustang Enthusiast, Muscle Car Enthusiast, Octane, you name it - Magazine Editors interested in crystal clear prof. shots, may contact Rich via the e-mail mentioned above.)

The BULLITT NATIONALS 2006
Report from David Kunz

The 2006 Bullitt Nationals were great. Ben Maccabee, Mark Myers, Anthony and I all were there and the parking lot of the hotel was full of 2001 Bullitt Mustangs, lots of vintage replicas, and even a few 2006 Hertz Shelbys rented at SFO.

Don't miss
