This is the one and only true factory equipped supercharged Shelby GT350 prototype as documented on the display. Paxton Superchargers were sold as well over the counter.
This Shelby GT350 not only wears the black/gold stripes, but has the remarkable Hertz Sports Car Club sticker affixed to the front fenders
GT 40 race and road cars as well as replicas were a nice change at this meeting. Sure you know that Shelby modified his share of GT40 as well. Today it is difficult to differentiate true originals from rebuilds, fakes and other derivations. Wether these in the picture are originals - let me know.
Craig Shaferly's 67 GT500 was my 'Editors' pick of the show. Not willing to sell this car he was in real Shelbian manner open enough to let me have a look under the hood and inside the meticulous car. Valued at more than 40.000$, this car inside and outside was worth every cent of it.
With its VIN 6S07_ this is one of the 252 left over Shelby GT350 built in 1965, but sold in 1966. It was for sale for 'just 46.500$ at SAAC-25. Not a cheap deal...? You'll be the judge.
Due to a Shelby focussed car show there were only a few others that caught attention - still this 71 Mach 1 was outstanding enough to remind us all of the famous James Bond movie, where such a similar car appeared. |
