BEST OF SHOW AWARD
FROM DUNLOP at the SEMA 2008.
Tom Tjaarda and CDCs president George Huisman presented the EQUUS EQ 500 (Project name TOM1) at this years SEMA 2008 and it draw a lot of attention.

It was quite an unexpected Designers car for the typical SEMA audience.

It features a lot of modern ingredients, the suspension is based on Total Controls latest technology, the 5.4 litre engine features 600HP, supercharged by an Eaton unit.

Limited number production may start at the end of 2009. This car was designed for the world market. While CDC will focus on the US market, the car will be also shown in Europe (not marketed there however) and other continents.
More about this in the future on www.ponysite.de

The SEMA show car featured a very distinctive interior. We will explain more on the details soon.

A second car (a replica of the original 67 based EQUUS EQ500)  was built in parallel based on a 68 Fastback and that one will play a major role in the already mentioned movie project "Road to Maharajah".

Look rather to the left of the lady and you'll see the blacked out interior.

In January 2009 this road adventure will cover 1400 miles in India from Bombay/Mumbai to Jaipur. Starting in Film City with a Bollywood filmstart, the rallye will lead to many a Maharajah palace and other sightseeing spots.
More on the rallye here

In the to left picture on the right, you can spot already the 68 replica of TOM1, plus a few of the 10 Shelbys and Mustangs used in the movie. This rallye is made for and organized by true Mustang/Shelby maniacs.
The Mustang made out of real gold in the top right picture has its own meaning that we might explain one day to you. There is something more behind that scale model made for someone special in the Mustang/Shelby history.

The new Tom Tjaarda designed EQUUS EQ500 (Tom1) was presented by CDC and Tom Tjaarda at the SEMA 2008 show.

A replica of this car  will  star in the Road of Maharajahs movie.

Tom Tjaarda is very well known in the Ford scene for his design of the De Tomaso Pantera.
But he also had his hands quite often on Ford designs and even Mustangs starting in the late 60ies up to the recent electric powered EVX Mustangs.

In 1960 he designed the Ford dragster project IXG, in 1962 worked on a Pininfarina Corvair project. It's a mystery to have some touching points with Phil Clarks vita here, as we found IXG pics in Phil Clarks material and as you might know Phil worked on some Corvair designs while being at GM. We've yet to find out, wether they ever met or had some contact or at least knew of each other.

In 1969 he designed the De Tomaso Mustela while being at Ghia followed by the De Tomaso Deauville and De Tomaso Pantera in 1970. In 1971 he worked on the De Tomasa Zonda and a Mustang design.

In 1973 another Ford Mustela II was shown around the country, later followed by Ford Maverick designs and Ford Mustang II design studies for Ghia.
Tom Tjaarda has been creative and active ever since, his latest better known project being the Qvale Mangusta, based on the Shelby Series 2, and more recently the EVX Mustang and HST Cobra.
You can take a closer look at his car on http://www.tom-tjaarda.net/cars.htm

But few knew that Tom Tjaarda is not only a lover of the BULLITT movie, but had some greater things in mind, when joining this exciting multi-facette project that we will follow until the movie Road to Maharaja comes out
