David S. Turnbull started this Ponydrive adventure long ago and Ponysite has been there to get his idea started with first informations about the first one, then getting my friend Pat Johnson in the boat to start up the www.ponydrive.us website, which has been up since then, keeping the family idea alive and kicking.

David S. Turnbulls slightly (original) customized well-known leading Mustang for the Ponydrive..

Together with Holly Clark this time we created the Pony Headquarters booth at the 45th.

Unfortunately Holly went after an infection into the hospital already on Friday, so we were left with 2 parties at the booth and I was always on my way, so if you missed the rest of the Headquarter gang, sorry again. I could not stand just there and miss all the Mustangs, but I missed to see a lot of friends indeed. Next time we do better.

"Our target is to adopt any new participant in our big family and making new friends...."

..and so it was.

Although I had been in touch with David S.Turnbull and met him once in New York already, I did not really have a clue of what attracts people to the long drives over weeks for the Ponydrive.
Well now I have a better understanding. They adopt you immediately, so if you don't have a family, here is the right gang for you.
My clubmate Michael Kloer went already 3 times with the Ponydrive and joined them again this time for a short period only, since he had to go without his family, but he  had already given us appropriate reports on the previous Ponydrives, so I knew something about the fun and leisuretime, which is a focus of each Pondrive. Not eating miles, but combining common Mustang driving with visits of thousand of interesting sites and spots plus making new friends on the road and with local Mustang clubs, dealers or garages. A true Mustang adventure.

Well I happened to join them with my mate Michael and his 2010 grabber blue Mustang Six in the morning at the local Sams club near our Rime Garden Inn hotel for the drivers instruction meeting.

Rule number One was repeated: Always fuel up before the Drivers Instruction meeting, no excuses. New participatns like myself got introduced to the audience and immediately somebody knew somebody that was in Europe or in Germany and talks began. Seems every US citizen has been or had a relative that had been over here, so there is always something to talk about...even if it is our Autobahn, beer or the Humpa music. Well, we let you all believe we are all like that, driving 200 miles, drinking all day and having fun all day. So, which is the blessed nation? Ok., not us:)

Riding into the 45th Show with the Ponydrive was an adventure by itself. We followed a bigger portion of the Pondrive group into the Barber Motorsports Park area with Michaels 2010 and everything worked fine well into the reserved parking area.

In the evening there was a 45th. celebration party at the Rime Garden Inn with lots of Mustang talk, a group member playing his limited Fender Mustang guitar with well-done Mustang songs keeping the audience tuned and a huge number of door prices given away by David and his supporters.

Thanks a lot to the group for a nice weekend, even though I was not always around with you due to my other obligations:)

I am sure one day we will join the Ponydrive group for at least a week or two, make sure you follow the whole trip on their website www.ponydrive.us.
