1 of 57 1968 Hardtop Mustangs with an X-code 390/2V engine and the B-Sprint package

"Hello Mustang friends,
I have a 68 X-code Coupe, exterior Royal Maroon, interior red,  Sprint package B. Bought new at Haley Motors in GA and moved to central Florida long ago, no power options at new. The original owner put 4 wheel power disc brakes on it.

The only thing I have done is put a Ford 3-2 carbs set up on it and P/Ss that it didnt have, a Big Block Mustang you would not want to drive without P/S. Marti said its one of one built. The original owner still lives here in the area, and I have the records that he kept frome new. I have all the original parts that came off the car that he kept.
It is unrestored, but still looks good and I drive it today....."Fred

Fred McHugh has not only this unique unrestored X-code Mustang, but a history with 5 Shelbys, but loves also the other rare Mustangs. He now sticks to his 1968 Hardtop in maroon exterior color, that he prefers over other rides.

What makes this plain jane looking car a unique Mustang is a combination of choices of the original owner David C.D., who opted for the 390/2V X-code engine. In combination with a C-6 automatic there were only 476 of those made in 1968.

The original owner also marked the B-Sprint option. Although there were about 15.000 delivered in 1968 with the popular package, the combo with the above mentioned items brakes the statistic figures down for only 57.
Add the maroon exterior and the red interior (2D) and you get a One-of-One Mustang. As you can read from these lines, there was indeed the opportunity to personalize your car amongst a number of roughly 800.000 Mustangs with a few cross marks in the order list.

Haley Ford in Albany, Georgia invoiced this unique Mustang on July 22, 1968 to the original owner. Probably not the salesman nor the buyer did know by then, they had put together a unique Mustang. Thanks to Kevin Marti saving the Ford documents and thorough research through the files, it turned out this was just one of one made.

The 2D red standard interior looks ideal with the Royal Maroon exterior paint (B). A/C was obviously added later. The A/M radio was delivered ex-factory.

Background information:
Marc Schultz keeps or kept an X-Code registry with about 45 known to exist still today a few years back. With the Internet growing we are sure the number has increased by now.
