6S2376 sold for 185.000$ in early 2003.

Blue, red, green and Springtime Yellow were the colours that Shelby painted his 4 convertibles at the end of the 66 Shelby model year. All of them have been found and it is confirmed by now that there is indeed no trace of a 5th and 6th. of this original breed that can be found.

For a long time it has been thought that there were 6 including a white and a pink one. This has been indeed a fairy tale over the years originating from some chat in the early 7oies, when somebody offered 2 of these convertibles. The interested buyer first claimed that Shelby never built convertibles, then called Shelby American and asked somebody on the phone. That person asked others being in the room at this moment and somebody said "Approximately six". This "approximately" was dropped over the years and magazines and books repeated the number six.

Factory papers from FORD show that only 4 convertibles were delivered to Shelby American. As 2375, 2376, 2377 and 2378 were found over the years, the number 2379 and 2380 were simply left open, when the Continuation Series was scheduled for the year 1980, in order to avoid any problems, if those car would pop up. But 2379 and 2380 were indeed never built. No paper has ever been found in the piles of original Shelby American documentation that gives any hint to a 5th and 6th of these original 66 convertibles.

What are they worth today  (2003)?
The Springtime yellow one on the left , known as 6S2376, has been on sale recently by Donny Gould at the Boca Raton auction in Florida. It sold for 185.000$. So you get an idea about the value of the originals.
Previous owners were Bill Norton, who found it back in the early 70ies, Ken Eber, co-director of the SAAC and Sam Pampenello from Florida.

This site is still under construction, so expect a lot more in the near future.
Some information thanks to Guillaume Vesnat and Nitro magazine.
