1969 T-5 Super Cobra Jet

One of a kind - only one ever built according to the Marti Report!

In Mustang Monthly June 2001 in a special section 'Factory Freaks' this one-of-a-kind Mustang was mentioned and further information on the whereabouts requested.

John Bakke from Norway found the mentioned VIN in his files: #9T02R172708. A 1969 Mach 1, equipped with a 428 Super Cobra Jet and exported as a T-5 version to West Germany back in 1969. Mustangs had to be sold under the name T-5, as the 'Mustang' name rights were kept from the companies Krupp and Kreidler in Germany.

John  went out to the owner and checked the car all over. Here it made its first cyberspace appearance after 32 years in 2001.

An early picture from a NORSK Mustang Club meeting at Tyrigrava around 2000/2001

Look at that ultrarare 240km/h speedometer with the trip odometer!
Next to it is a 8000 RPM tach.
The Mustang's colour is Candy Apple Red/Red interior, the engine/trans combo is a 428 Super Cobra Jet with a 4-speed.
VIN assigned around the 12th. of February, scheduled for production on the 20th February and actually built on the 24th February 1969 apparently the 'stang was bypassed by a big number of other Mustangs during the production, probably due to missing parts. The fenders are stamped from the 6th. (drivers side) and the 13th. (passengers side). Most probably a lack of Cobra Jets or any other option caused the delay or some inspector at the end of the line.

It did not stay for a long time in Germany as well. "Indeed it was first licenced in Norway on the 22. December 1969. What a christmas present that must have been! The car has had 12 owners in Norway. The previous owner before the last one (it has been sold in 2004 to Svein E.A.) had it from 1982 until 2000.
It has gone during its life through a lot. Amongst other modifications it has been altered with Mach 1 aluminium trim pices and apparently 70 front fender "sidemarker" lights. But I am not sure if the fenders themselves are changed. They are stamped with 2 6 D2"(Quote: John)

Indeed the fenders seem to be customized as the current owner Svein E. A. found out after comparing them to other 70 fenders with marker lights. Still the job was done quite nicely and looks dealer-made with all the 70 original marker lights parts.
Svein is going to return it to ex-factory condition and added it to his collection of a BOSS 429 and a 1968 Torino Pace car (one of 18 produced) and several other cars.

Update 2005 and 2007:
I was fortunate to see and sit in that car in 2005 and 2007 again.

Svein enjoys a rare drive in it with us visitors, but he wasn't yet finished with the restoration and started many things over again meanwhile. His passion is restoring.
