On January 27th, 1965 Carrol Shelby introduced the Shelby G.T.350 to the press at the Riverside Raceway. Actually 10 test cars were there including a Cobra and a GT40 and a Competition Model.
We think that at least 6, if not all first Advanced Prototypes were there, since all of them were finished until January 25th. We'd like to hear your feedback.
The reason we put this up here, is that our friend John from the Mach1 Registry happened to be at the 2022 Muscle Cars and Corvette Nationals, where many Advanced protoypes were on display. Check out our
picture portfolio.

Unfortunately we have to report today of the loss of a true friend - Jean Pierre Versini, Chief Editor of the french Mustang & Shelby magazine died at the age of 59, 2 days after his birthday.
Jean Pierre ran the magazine with his mates/team since 2016 and it attracted not only new Mustang enthusiasts, but also long-time insiders due to its top-level researched content. The magazine exists since 2013.

We hope his influental brain- and artwork finds continuation as a legacy. Sorry to loose a true Open-Hood-Mustanger in the scene. Sharing information was his passion.

Condolences a son famille.
R.I.P. Jean Pierre.

I am sorry for the long period of no news.
FB
has allowed enthusiasts to create a lot of groups one feels obliged to follow to not miss new photo material and new guys sharing their photoboxes...at least.

Q&A are often just opinions and search for knowledge behind.. is taking more times than in the early Internet era, yet the dynamics and the opportunity to exchange much faster actual and historic tidbits has taken a bit away from websites.

To maintain this site is about 5:1 more complicated than FB. I won''t join Instagram or Twitter ever, that's clear for me. However I enjoy the much more interactive, spontaneous and JIT exchange with friends on Facebook.

The disadvantage is to get lost in the amount of information, so filtering is a must and that may indeed filter out occasionally the goodies. Plus it is almost impossible to retrieve again informations, that one has not immediately saved. So be it.

I
will still maintain www.ponysite.de more often, because it was and is intended for almost 30 years by now my lifelong scrap book for everybody, who like me wants to enjoy Mustang stories from around the globe and connect with the authors or contributors one or the other day.
Especially these days we need good and factual stories rather than the negative bullying of social media trollys. In 1993 we shared knowledge, today we spent too much time with opinions and dislikes, let's refocus on the chances of Internet - making new friends on eye level.
Stay tuned.

Francisco Lobinho is a professional scale model builder and contacted me quite some time ago trying to create a 1:43 scale model of the 1968 Jacky Ickx Mustang, which he raced at the Spa circuit. Since I had some pics of it while in Dr. Eymanns ownership, I searched again all pics I had taken during a visit of Dr. Eymann. Actually he had bougth the Ickx car back then via Luxembourg (or Lichtenstein) and raced it first in its original livery red with blue stripes. Thus I could help out Francisco to check a few details that were missing in his photo documentation.
Here you see the final result of his 1 of 1 build.

Actually the graphic stripe and number kit is sold by the portuguese company Minisquadra.
Check them out on Facebook. The model isn't listed yet, first appearance is here.

Herbert Mueller was a famous swiss race driver, part of the Scuderia Filippinetti team.

He was a true Shelby lover, not only racing a 427 Cobra with Pete Ettmueller, but he used to have his own toys around like the 66 Shelby 6S342 or two 1967 Shelbys. I stumbled over all of them in Germany.
Being sold via the outlet of the Scuderia, which was Performance Cars Ltd. in Geneve they are true gems today.

Stay tuned for the individual history records of these 3 cars, which are still around in private hands as of today, two in Switzerland and one in Germany.

1:8 scale models are certainly the always of interest. 56cm is something tough to overlook on your desk or shelf. Following 2 other Mustang/Shelbys now a UK based company has made a
1968 GT in Dark Highland Green, to which you can subscribe to get regularly new components and build it over a period of 18 months. Since I am not at all patient, it's nothing for me to think about, but I know there are more people that enjoy building any kind of scale model or spent hundreds of hours on one project alone. This one is for you from Eaglemmoss/UK.
Update July 23rd: We hate to mention it, but Eaglemoss got into trouble and filed for bankrupcy. Read on here.
We are sorry for the collectors and employees of Eaglemoss.

Canadian 1968 Mustang GTS revisited
The mystery car of which we received a first sighting years ago has meanwhile be nicely restored to its original color.

Turned out it was most probably not a Mainway Ford promo, but one from Holiday Ford Sales in Ontario with a special DSO built in Dearborn. Looking for more information on advertisements or other announcements.

Some insiders followed the
ARI pace car convertibles sales at the BJ auction earlier this year. They went respectively for 200.000 Dollar (the blue) and 175.000 Dollar (the green) plus fees.
Actually we heard that the green one will undergo a complete restoration and the blue one be corrected in certain details now.
They will be certainly some time around on the showfield in the upper classes.
We'll keep you updated in our related ARI registry pages.

Today we lost another racing legend in Europe.
Claude Dubois died at the age of 89 due to a heart attack. RIP Claude.

Claude in 2004 signing his book. He even send me a pre-version of the english translation and was kind enough to share many original documents since the 90ies with us here.

A personal note to Rauno Harvima, owner of 2 1971 SE convertibles, which he still owns today.

I was in touch with him for decades, he even offered me a 66 GT350 once for 45.000 Euro only, I still regret of not having bought it.
Claude liked to share his memories long before his book came out. I met him in 2004 and on many other occasions at dutch or belgium vintage car exhibitions. He signed many things, but his personal notes to owners of his cars were indeed ...personal.
A gentleman race driver has passed away. Thanks for the memories you shared with us Mustang editors in Europe even before the Internet was ON.

Well, I have a new favourite car - of course a movie car and a race car in one.
Everybody of us Mustangers has probably seen the Ford vs. Ferrari movie.
A little overlooked by many, but it catched my attention upon its appearance in the movie instantly.
The #99 lettered 65 Mustang hardtop
that got a sidekick by a green GT40 during the race.
4 Mustangs were actually built by Billy Stabiles shop for the movie, 2 of them as stunt cars and two as rolling shells to be burnt in a scene. We'll present you the aftermovie story of all 4 of them here, stay tuned for updates.
