Eugenio Nicolini:
"This Mustang was assembled in Peru in 1967 and shipped to Holman & Moody in July 1970 for racing preparations including a Boss headed engine. Finished and shipped to Peru in 1971. The car was built to Trans Am 71 specifications and the body is acid dipped. The invoices from Holman Moody include a testing at Road Atlanta.

The engine is a 302 build by Lee Holman in 1992. The original owner was Christobal Galluf, he ordered the car  in order to race in open roads and race circuits, so they send this monster back to Peru.
It won in every race it entered. We have all the Holman Moody paperwork. The car was initially sent from Peru, because we had a military government at that time and all car imports were prohibited."

The History of an obscure Peru assembled Racing Mustang

A rare early race picture of the HM modified 1967 Mustang Notchback

..during our research about the Shelby notchbacks we stumbled over this one in the Jorge Nicolini collection down in Peru.
Gary Goeringer did not sleep well :), until he found out more details about this car. Here are the details he got from Eugenio Nicolini, nephew of Jorge Nicolini.

The VIN is indeed a 7ATO7GT-XXXXX number, which identfies this car as one of the few Peru assembled Mustangs. It carries today a HM tag showing C7HM-10118-GT.

"The current engine is a dry sumped 9.2 inch deck small block with aluminum cleveland heads--basically a NASCAR motor with aluminum heads.  No power figures available but a good guess would be 500-525, but it seems the car was never run with this motor because the headers sent with the engine in 1992 would not fit in the existing chassis without major modifications.  Lee Holman built the motor to the specs as requested. He also said he has offered to rebuild the motor with the shorter deck block to accomodate the fitment."

Actually the car is on sale as of October 2009 for about 200.000 Dollar. As of 2015 it appeared as a HM sale, as of 2017 the car is advertised for just 100.000 Dollar, saying that the car had to be brought outside of Peru. Pictures in the ad however seem to be mostly from 2009 in front of the Nicolini museum.
